1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV)
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
There are many Christians doing the work of ministry in churches across the land that are beat down, discouraged, disheartened and ready to give up. They have encountered many bumps and bruises along the journey of life. Bruised from personal issues and trauma, bruised from the betrayals of others, bruised from the attacks of the enemy, and even bruised by the insults of other believers. The enemy has used all of these things to cause many of us to fall into a state of emotional despair and stagnation.
Various ministries within our churches have begun declining in fulfilling their purpose and meeting the needs of the people, because those over them have lost sight of who they are, why they work and the power that’s in them. Some people have even begun to believe that what they do no longer matters.
I want to encourage anyone that may be in this current state, know that whatever you do in the name of the Lord matters! While we all face a number of issues in life we must be secure in knowing that we can accomplish God’s will for our lives. At times of great hardship it is difficult to hold onto the fact that you have a great purpose. When you are rejected or betrayed by loved ones, when others discourage you from completing God’s vision for your life; it’s hard to imagine that God has something great for you, but He does!!
We must learn to resolve that no matter what happens to us that God will manifest in our lives all that he placed in us. Being reminded of Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; (NKJV). Know that no matter what we face in life, God has promised to finish what He started in us and through us!
This knowledge is what gives us the strength and wisdom to get through the hard times. When we are assured that it’s God who started the work and will complete the work, then it gives us the strength to continue to do the work; regardless of what happens to us we can remain strong in HIM, rejoicing in the fact that He even allows us to work alongside HIM!!

Hold on, Help is on the Way!!
Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV) “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.”
Did you know that a rope has greater strength than the combined individual strength of the strands that make it up? Why is this? The answer is quite simple. Individual strands have weak spots along them, points at which they easily break. But in a rope, the weak spots are randomly distributed along the length of the rope and the twist in the rope allows the surrounding strands to cancel out the weak spots of the individual fibers.
The same rings true in our spiritual relationship, alone we are weak and unable to be all that God has for us to do; however our lives are incomparably changed when we connect ourselves to the Holy Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God The Holy Spirit.
As believers in Christ we reap many benefits found in the promises of God. It’s important to note these benefits do not always manifest themselves in tangible ways, but they are still valuable to our overall well-being. We must be equally expectant of the emotional, mental and spiritual promises that He also provides.
This especially rings true in this day and age, when we seem to face more and more hardships in our economy, finance, and relationships. In the seasons where we struggle with any of these hardships, it is easy to find yourself in a place of weakness or being depleted of strength in order to go on.
Yet, despite the complexities of life what great joy we find in knowing that God gives us strength to go on, despite what we face. The scripture says He gives power to the weak, meaning God gives us the capacity to keep moving forward with force, although we want to live life at a standstill. Not only does he give us power, but he gives us the ability to be strong when we feel we have nothing left. The power and strength of God can do immeasurably more in our lives than we can imagine, but we must be in a position to receive, activate and walk in it when it comes.
As His children we have the promise that it will come, but we must be willing to walk in it, otherwise we waste these great resources. So when you feel like giving up don’t! Remember Help is on the Way!

No Laughing Matter
Genesis 18:10-12 (NKJV)
10 And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”(Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) 11 Now Abraham and
Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.[a] 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
How many times have you thought what you really wanted was just too late? A dream or vision that you held onto for years just didn’t seem like it would come to pass. A God given promise or passion that burns deep within, but because of external issues you think it will just never manifest. . Perhaps you think your financial situation is too bad for you to get that loan, or because you don’t have enough people in your corner to help you. Maybe you are like Sarah and think you’re too old to start that business or go back to school. By all accounts everything in your life may point to the fact, that your opportunity has passed.
Yet there is one fact that we cannot ignore in the face of all that we see!
God’s promise supersedes everything else!! Why? Because faith triumphs facts!!!
Yes, all of these variables may exist in your life but when God has given you a promise, you can rest assured it will come to pass!
The problem is oftentimes like Sarah, we laugh at what God says can happen because we are stuck in disbelief! Stuck in where we’ve been, stuck in how we feel, and stuck in what others say. We say with our mouths we trust God, but in our inner minds we have doubts. Doubts that the enemy tries to use against us to keep us from becoming who God called us to be, and from doing what God has called us to do. Like Sarah we make the mistake of getting to a place where we give in or give up, causing the promise to be delayed or worse, we try to make it happen on our own.
As beloved children of God we must fully believe in the reminder and declaration found in Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?
There is nothing in this universe that God cannot bring to pass in your life. Our responsibility is to line up our sight with what God says and live in expectation. Instead of expecting what we you see to win, expect what God has says to be manifested.
Instead of laughing in disbelief at the possibility of it being true, laugh along the journey as you watch God demolish every fear and thought bringing his promises to pass in your life.

THE FREEDOM TO LIVE A VICTORIOUS LIFE IN GOD
”Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV)
In today’s society there are many people living unfulfilled lives because of emotional baggage, pain and hurt. The weight of their feelings seems to be insurmountable, causing thoughts of depression, frustration and unfortunately suicide. So many are bound by their circumstances and situations so badly that hope seems like a distant reality, and they slip deep into a pit of despair and destruction. Suicide and mental distresses are rising at an alarming rate across the board, and even more startling is the fact that they are rising in the Christian community like never before.
While suicide and emotional distresses are alarming no matter the demographic discussed, these emotional disparities are especially alarming amongst believers in Christ. Why? Because the scriptures are littered with the healing virtues we receive being a believer of Christ. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross did not only serve as payment for our sins and eternal life, but his sacrifice also brought about the capacity to receive healing, deliverance and a number of things we need while still here on earth. His death, burial, resurrection and ascension to heaven also promised us the presence of His Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit has many functions in the life of a believer. He is within us to serve as our guide, intercessor, teacher and builder of all the godly attributes we need to display Christ-likeness in our lives. Furthermore, because the Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity, He also possesses the same divine attributes of God, meaning that wherever He is there God is also.
This scripture reminds us that where the spirit of God is there is liberty or freedom, meaning that no matter what we face we don’t have to be bound by the things of this world. Where God’s spirit resides is ultimate freedom to live a victorious life. The problem often is we focus so much on what we are going through, that we forget to focus on the one who is bringing us through. Yes, as believer’s we face a plethora of hardships that seem unbearable, and the power they perceive to have is overwhelming. However, we should never be moved by any external power; because we have the presence of the Greatest Power there is living inside of us.
Never forget God gave you the liberty to live a victorious life in Him.

WHICH WAY WILL YOU GO?
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV)
Growing up my mother use to say a certain phrase that just got under my skin, whenever I asked to do what my friends were doing. She could never just give me a straight no but always said. "So if your friends jump off a bridge, are you following"? I could never understand why she would ask such a silly question. I always wanted to say; of course not! How crazy do you think I am? But as off the wall as this comment may seem, it is exactly what many of us as believers do. We jump off the figurative bridges of life following other people, right into destruction.
Many times we see other believers relaxing their standards in favor of fame, love or popularity, and get sucked into the success we perceive they have, not realizing the destruction that awaits them. We let the "seeming" of their lives attract us, leading us right into death traps as we blindly follow them. But the question is why?
As believers we are admonished various times and in various ways to live holy & right before God and man, and to avoid the type of living that leads to calamity in our lives; yet many of us find ourselves right there. But why? Well the broad gate seems appealing. Those that are on the broad are often blinded to the fact that their path is detrimental to their lives. They are enjoying the pleasures of their flesh, while neglecting the responsibility of following after the spirit and ignoring the state they are really in. You see walking in the flesh is easy, it's natural and takes no real work, so many find themselves in that way.
But it takes a desire and persistency to look seek out and stay on the narrow path of life. The word clearly teaches that they are many who won't find it, but it's clear some will and their end result will be life. As you journey through life don't look at the easy gate and way that everyone else is on, but look for the path less traveled, the path that leads to life.

Working Confidently
Be Blessed

Determined Despite Distractions
3 So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?” But they sent me this message four times, and I answered them in the same manner. (Nehemiah 6:3-4 NKJV)
Ever set a plan in place to accomplish a goal in life, only to seemingly face obstacles on every hand? Things seem to fall apart, resources run out, or people rise up against you; and you have no idea why? Many times in life the journey to walking in our God-given purpose is a long one, therefore it seems unfair and unwarranted that we face these things while attempting to pursue them. However, we must understand that whenever we are trying to move forward with what God has given us; that distractions will soon follow.
Distractions are designed to keep us from completing what God has so graciously given u to us.
The story of Nehemiah teaches us very valuable lessons in learning to keep our determination despite distractions
First we learn we cannot get started doing a work for God without talking To God. We learn in the first chapter of Nehemiah, that he was greatly distressed over the condition of the city and Was moved to do something. You see Nehemiah was the king's cupbearer and when it came time for him to serve the king, he asked what was wrong. Instead of Nehemiah immediately answering the king, he prayed first. Many of us would do well in learning to make prayer the first order of the day in fulfilling our purpose.
Secondly as Nehemiah began fulfilling his assignment he remained determined to complete it despite the distractions he faced. Everyone will not be on your side when you decide to walk in your purpose. However when others come against you don't fall to pieces but stand your ground. Nehemiah teaches that we cannot allow the presence of naysayers or distractions get us off track No matter what they said Nehemiah recognized that what he was doing was a great work, and allowed that resolve to keep him focused. No matter what others do, don't allow them to cause you to waver or get off track. Realize your doing a great work, ignore the distractions & don't give up.

WHERE'S YOUR ATTENTION?
Proverbs 4:20-22 20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh. (NKJV)
Day in and day out we give our attention to so many things. Our attention is easily divided between our loved ones, family, work, personal and even church issues. We spend countless hours conversing with others, reading various entertainment materials wanting to “be in the know”. We give our attention and energy to almost everyone and everything that present itself , that at the end of the day find ourselves in a state of depletion.
While there is nothing wrong with wanting to garner knowledge , or in spending time building relationships and managing the affairs of our lives; none of these should replace investing in spending time with God. When we invest and give our attention to those things that do not fill us we wind up in a state of spiritual depletion.
Spiritual depletion occurs when there is a constant pouring out while neglecting the necessity of a constant and proper re-filling. Further when the wrong type of re-filling methods are used, we do further damage because we fill ourselves with information and knowledge that only give temporary fulfillment. We are in a day and age where self-help books and websites are easily available to us. While I do believe God has gifted individuals to help us in various areas of living, their knowledge and resources are not meant to replace the Word of God, in the life of believers.
Many times we face so many challenges in life that we allow our thinking and emotions to lead us away from God’s word. Our flesh wants answers to appease it, so we look to sources to do just that; while our souls are malnourished because we aren’t feeding ourselves properly. As Christians nothing and no one should have our attention, our ears, and our heart more than God’s word. It saddens me that as children of God we have the tendency to muddle through life half-hearted and defeated, questioning God on what, when how and why; while we have the answers readily at our disposal.
However if we would just give attention to God’s word and to Lean (incline) towards what He has and is saying, we would receive the proper answers and re-filling needed to not only get through life but enjoy it!
And health to all their flesh. (NKJV)

DON'T LOSE YOUR FAVOR OR YOUR FOCUS
Therefore the LORD said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant. (I Kings 11:11 NKJV)
We are all blessed to have gifts, talents and abilities to carry out the purposes God ordained for our lives. God has allowed us to be divine partakers in His kingdom work here on earth. There are many things we face in life that have the potential to mold and shape our lives if we follow after them. Some things are for our good, some things are detrimental to our good, and only what God has is for our best. The problem often occurs because we do not seek God for direction, and we lack the ability to discern which is which. It's not that we don't know, it's not that God doesn't have the power to show us; instead it's usually because we have allowed other things to draw our hearts away from God, and block our view and hearing. We make the mistake of allowing what we see, think and feel to cloud what we know God has said.
King Solomon is a great example to us of the dangers of allowing other things to draw away our hearts and focus from God, and ultimately causes us to forfeit our favor. Solomon was consider a man of great wisdom and wealth and had favor in the eyes of God. However, along the way King Solomon stopped applying the wisdom he had and dropped the standards that God set for him and the people. God had forbidden the children of Israel to marry people of other races because of their idolatry, He didn't want them influenced by the presence of false Gods, a standard Solomon was fully aware of. Yet for some unknown reason he decided to go with what he felt, instead of what God had determined. This decision led him to have over 1,000 wives and over 300 concubines of all nationalities. This loss of focus wound up costing Solomon everything, and God removed the favor from His life and the life of his children.
We must daily live to follow the precepts God has set for our lives. Choosing to do our own thing can cost us everything we were not expected to lose.

FOR YOUR GOOD, AND HIS GLORY
Many times we face trials, circumstances and issues that seemingly have the power to destroy us. We get bogged down by life that bombards us on every end, we get sidetracked by the opinions of others; and we even allow our own thoughts to go astray from what God has already told us.
As children of God we must always remember to guard our hearts and minds for in them reside the issues of our lives as well as the power to mold our perspective. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (NIV) Situations have the ability to make us see or feel things based on the severity they pose in our lives. That is why it is imperative that we understand we must resolve to guard our hearts and minds before we get in the midst of hardships.
Guarding our hearts and minds enables us to remember the truth of God’s word that will keep us grounded in hard times. One such truth is that God does not allow hardships to destroy us but to refine us. Isaiah 48:10-11 says “Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.” (NIV)
Knowing that God uses our hardships to refine us and not allow our hardships to destroy us is one of comforting assurance. God cares enough about us to remove those things from us that do not belong. Refinement is the process of removing impurities or unwanted elements from a substance. The truth of the matter is, no matter how good we think we are, we are all in need of having things removed from our lives so God can use us the way He desires.
We must fully accept and understand that trials and hard times are bound to happen in our lives (James 1:2-8), but having the proper perspective enables us to not only get through them, but learn from them. In our spiritual refinement God uses our hardships and afflictions to remove everything in us that hinders our spiritual maturity, in order to fill is with Christ-like attributes to live holy and bring Him Glory.

YOUR WHY WILL LEAD TO YOUR WHAT
“And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them.” (Deuteronomy 28:13 ESV)
I remember growing up and greatly enjoying learning in English class. There was just something exciting to me in learning sentence structure, conjugating verbs, and just learning the importance of proper communication was extremely important to me. One of the lessons I learned and held dear was that of "cause and affect". Cause is the reason why something happens, and effect is what happens because of the cause. For example, I did not study well for the exam, therefore I failed it or because the alarm was not set, we were late for work. Cause and effect is a very powerful yet neglected principle of life because your “Why” always leads way to your “What”.
Unfortunately, as believers we consider the law of cause and effect when it comes to every aspect of our lives, except when it comes to our walk with God. We certainly do not consider the principle of cause and effect when it comes to receiving our promises or blessings from God. But as children of God we cannot negate that this principle is at work in our relationship with God.
In this twenty first century so many people want blessings from God without being accountable to God. They want God to do His part without making sure they are doing theirs. Many times you will hear people recite today’s scripture as a declaration to validate who they are. You will hear people say "I am the head and not the tail, I am above and not beneath". However, we must be careful and mindful not to lose the value or accountability of this scripture, by only reciting the first portion of the text. God made these pronouncements of blessings to the children of Israel and us contingent on one thing; if we obey His commandments.
We cannot rightly claim possession to the blessings and promises of God, without first committing to obey the Word of God. We cannot rightfully expect God to move on our behalf, or manifest the promises available to us, if we do not first meet the requirements for them to be fulfilled in our lives.
So remember, “Why” always leads to your “What”.

ABANDONED FOR OUR REDEMPTION
Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last. (Mark 15:33, 34, 37 NKJV)
This precious time of the Holy Week is significant for believers every where. It’s the time where we collectively remember what Christ did for us on the cross, as He bore the punishment we deserved but could not pay.
Every year during this joyous and holy season we reflect on all of the horrific things He endured on His way to the cross, the betrayal, the mocking, the torture, the nails, His death, His burial and his resurrection. We consider all of the things He endured for our sins and how each facet of the resurrection affects our salvation and living, but rarely do we ever discuss His abandonment.
In Christ’s sacrifice on the cross He suffered many things on our behalf. Yes we are healed by His stripes, yes we are covered by His blood, but we have also been redeemed through His abandonment. Through-ought His ministry on earth Christ was always connected to the Father; there was never a time where He did not have access to God's power or presence. However, while Jesus was still connected, we were still separated. Although we had the presence of Jesus the fact remained that since He had not yet fulfilled God's will for His life, mankind was still stained and separated from an intimate relationship with God. All of this changed on the Cross.
In this last hour right before He took His last breath Christ experienced something He never had before, and something we would never have to again; being separated from God. At this very moment in time a divine exchange was taking place on the cross that would forever change our lives; when God looked at Christ He saw the sins of humanity draped upon Him, as He exchanged His righteousness for our sin and shame. Christ willingly endured being separated from God by bearing our sins; while simultaneously making it possible for us to never again experience the ache of God's absence.
His abandonment secured our redemption.

FOLLOWING GOD WITH EXCITEMENT
When I was a little girl there was nothing more enjoyable than being able to spend countless hours outside with my friends. There were many games we enjoyed but a few of my favorites were Mother May I, Simon Says & Red Light/Green Light. There was something in the excitement of waiting for the leader to give instruction and trying my best to meet their expectations and to receive their approval and winning the game.
Now that I'm older and on this Christian journey I've learned how to have that same I now excitement in following God. Everyday I wait with joyous anticipation as to how I can serve Him and follow His instructions. Now my waiting is not because I think I'll do a great job in doing everything that He says, contrary to that, I already know that I will have fail Him at some point throughout the day. Yet I wait with joy because I know regardless of My failures His directions and guidance will never lead me astray nor will he abandon me.
Why be excited? Because God desires that I be profitable as His child.
Isaiah 49:17 says Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go. (NKJV)
I'm assured in knowing that God desires to teach me how to live according to His principles. The word profit in this verse is not referring to material possessions, yet it refers to what the things we need to live godly & holy before God, in order to be profitable in God. As it says in 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
Secondly God desires to lead me in the way I should go. Listen all of us come into this Christian journey with some idea where We desire to go & do. But what I've learned is that no matter what your agenda may be, when your fully surrendered to God you learn that your will must be given up for His. Not so you can be enslaved to Him. But so you can be an honorable servant. Knowing fully that you don't have to worry about where He leads because you know you will never regret leaning & trusting in Him.

THE REWARDS OF DISCIPLINE
All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. (Hebrews 12:11 NASB)
Say the word discipline in a crowded room and you will likely receive a response of cringe worthy looks and deep sighs. When people hear or think of the word discipline they automatically think of all of the negative connotations that have been associated to it. Whether you think about the physical discipline in fitness training, the discipline of an unruly child or the discipline of studying for school; saying the word discipline seems to bring with it a cloud of discomfort.
Yet the word teaches us that while discipline brings discomfort for the moment, if you stick with it the rewards it yields is worth the training it provides. So what holds us back from the benefits of discipline? One thing, our focus.
Many falsely believe that the discomfort we face when disciplining ourselves is what holds us back, but this is not the truth. The fact that we focus on the discomfort we feel is what actually holds us back. Fact of the matter is discomfort is to be expected in any manner of discipline we enact in our lives. If you’re trying to lose weight, then you should expect the discomfort of removing certain foods and beginning a workout regimen. If you have a strict study regimen you will feel the discomfort of missing certain pleasures in order to have sufficient time to study. If you’re trying to increase your intimacy with God you should expect resistance in your flesh. Discomfort will always be present when you determine to change your life.
When we embrace the fact that discomfort is inevitable and temporary, we will find the strength to endure it and persevere to our goals. When you discipline your eating and fitness habits you will have a healthier temple. When you maintain proper study habits you will possess the degree you work so hard for. When you discipline your flesh you will receive the reward of God's peace and the manifestation of righteousness will unfold in your life. Don't shy away from or avoid the necessary disciplines in your life. Instead embrace it, learn from it then sit back and enjoy its rewards.

LEARNING IN TOUGH TIMES
Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. (Hebrews 5:7, 8 NKJV).
So many Christians constantly profess the desire to manifest godly character but few ever want to go through the process of godly character being produced in them. Sadly the worlds precepts of having things easily given or attained in life has crept its way into the church, rendering many incapable of growing in full spiritual maturity because they are looking for the easy way out. But when it comes to developing godly character there is no such thing as easy growth.
In this day and age many Christians are stuck in a place of stagnant growth because they want to be accepted the way they are by others and by God. But God never desires to leave us the way he finds us. Romans 8:29 says For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; (NASB). God desires for each one of His children into the image of His son, which would manifest godly character in us, as we begin manifesting the qualities of Christ in our lives. Developing Christian character is a lifelong process that we undertake once we profess Christ as Lord and Savior. It's a process that we must willingly undertake and go through in Gods timing and in Gods ways. It's a process that God desires for each of His children way before we were even born. It's a process we must understand will come with seasons of suffering.
The problem we face in learning the lessons and developing the character God is trying to develop in us; is that we want to rush the development process or we want to dictate to God what we want Him to use to develop us.We want to experience maximum growth and power with minimal effort, pain or suffering. But when we find ourselves in seasons of struggle or suffering don't simply cry, pray or petition your way out but realize what your going through is designed to grow you for his glory.

TRUE BEAUTY
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for [a]God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (NASB)
The society we live in is consumed with the significance in our outer appearance. We are bombarded on a daily basis by merchandisers who push their products of beauty through every conceivable outlet available. T.V. commercials, billboard advertisements, magazine articles, and social media; bombard us daily with the world’s viewpoint of how we should look. The problem with such advertising is the fact that they come with not-so-subtle innuendos that say to us in order to be widely accepted by others we need to be, look like & possess certain things in our lives.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with one taking great care of ourselves we cannot spend all of our time beautifying ourselves externally, while leaving ourselves internally bankrupt or spiritually unkempt. We cannot use or allow the world’s standards of external beauty to keep us limited in how we see ourselves nor use it to determine someone else worth.
We must know that we are not here to be pleasing to man, but to please & glorify God. God our father, is not concerned with how we adorn our outer man, while He does hold us accountable for taking good care of our earthly temples; He is more concerned with whether or not we are committed in being conformed into the image of Jesus Christ.
When we are conformed into the image of Jesus Christ, the internal transformation that takes place, the beautifying of our souls, is the greatest asset we can obtain. Romans 8:29 says For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son.
We can spend hours on end trying to beautify what others see but we must understand nothing that we purchase or put on us can replace the miraculous working of God’s Holy Spirit within us. When we allow God to work in & through us we begin to take on the characteristics of Christ. When His characteristics of love, joy, peace & strength are developed within us they will automatically shine through us which will be pleasing to God. Know that the beauty of God’s presence in you is better than anything the world has to offer.

LET THERE BE PEACE
In today’s society the notion of peace on any level appears to be a hard fought principal and emotion to attain. With so many different situations that occur on a daily basis it appears as if true peace has become a foreign concept. Countries, families, spouses and even co-workers seem to be at war with each other. Fighting for what you want in the physical has become the normal process in which to handle situations, and the thought of resolving things in a peaceable manner seems to have become obsolete.
People are living in an overwrought manner, distressed about the complexities and issues of life that they cannot control. Worried about how to make ends meet, worried over the direction of their family lives; so much so that they cannot have any joy, peace or hope. Consumed with the what ifs, what now and what’s next of life. However, as children of God this should never be our case. We should never be consumed or taken aback by the harsh aspects of life. We should be prepared “to count it all joy when we fall into various trials.” (James 1:2) But we cannot count it all joy when we don't know and trust that Christ has already overcome the various trials that await us.
John 16:33 says “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (NKJV) We don't have to wonder or look for peace when trials hit our lives, nor do we have to be fearful or be overcome by them no matter how powerful they appear; instead we must know that in Jesus Christ alone lies the peace we need; knowing that true peace does not come in the absence of hardship, but in the presence of Christ in our lives despite the hardship. When circumstances press you and peace seems far and you need help focusing on the peace of Christ just:
P - Pray for strength
E - Endure the trial
A - Acknowledge where you are
C - Confess your need for Christ's presence
E - Earnestly wait for Him
And Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. (Colossians 3:15 NIV)

DON'T FEAR THE VALLEY!!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)
We are reaching the halfway point of 2014 and things have not turned out the way some of us expected. For some the road to reaching our goals have been smooth, productive and led to great opportunities. Yet for others things appear to be falling apart. Things that were once fruitful seem to have dried up, relationships that were once healthy are now dysfunctional. It seems as if while you were walking on the path to the road of a fulfilled, productive & happy life the path just changed without notice and you were left standing in the middle of a barren land with no direction and waning faith.
What do you do when your standing in unknown territory surrounded by frustrating and almost debilitating circumstances? You trust that God knows exactly where you are, what your facing and what you stand in need of.
This scripture provides such a wealth of assurance on how to handle the dryness of these valley experiences.
First, we must remember that no matter how harsh, painful, or near death the valley appears; it has no real power to destroy you. The scripture says Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. We must know that shadows only give off appearance of what it surrounds. Though things may feel like they are falling to pieces with no hope of restoration all around you, this valley doesn't have any power to destroy you.
Second your time in the valley is temporary. Yea, though I walk through. We are encouraged from the onset that this season is not a lifetime experience. But a temporary walk through. No matter how long the season last it's only a season.
Lastly we can take courage because the greatest Power that has ever existed is with you, leading and guiding you through. You don't have to rest on your emotions or intellect to get you through nor do you have to wonder or be fearful of what lies ahead. Know that as God leads you through He is protecting you. It doesn't mean you won't get bruised or hurt following Him, but rest assured knowing He is there to comfort you when you do.

Do You Really Trust Him?
“Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” Matthew 8:25-26 (NKJV)
In Matthew chapter eight we find Jesus descending from the mountain after delivering the "Sermon on the Mount" where He delivered many life giving messages to the people. After delivering these messages Jesus descends the mountain, with disciples in tow and began ministering various miracles and healings. While Jesus was ministering, the disciples were watching how great and powerful their Messiah was. One would think that while they watched their faith would be increasing, their trust would be building and their fear would be dissipating. However we find that's not the case.
When Jesus and His disciples entered a boat, soon after a great storm came. The storm was so fierce that the bible says the waves covered the boat. It would appear as though this storm was so bad that the boat seemed like it would capsize. The disciples become so fearful that they ran to Jesus asking Him to save them. Sounds familiar? There are times in our lives that circumstances occur seemingly sudden and fierce, overwhelming us beyond compare and we run to God crying out save me, save me. Now that might seem like a natural response but as children of God, should it be? For those that have been walking and communing with God, should our first response be that of despair? Absolutely not! While it is a natural response in our flesh to run for safety, as Believers who have seen God work miracles in our lives and the lives of others it is not the kind of faith response God desires, nor does it build our witness or edify others.
Contrary to how things seem we must always believe that God knew about the storm before we got into it and that He has the power to control the storm once we are in it. The truth of the matter is we cannot proclaim faith in God yet respond in fear when our circumstances bear down on us.
Remember the God you serve has the power to control and quiet both, you and your storm.

KNOW WHO YOU SERVE
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23, 24 NKJV)
Day in and day out many of us face the challenges of serving others in various capacities we fulfill. Whether it be in a relationship, a job or even in ministry, we often struggle with the capacity and attitude we serve others with; especially when their attitude towards us is poor. The truth of the matter is that no matter where, how or who we serve we have the potential of facing someone with a cantankerous attitude or demeanor; despite our best effort of serving them in a loving manner.
So what do you do when you are giving your all, giving your best, serving in love and excellence; but are smacked with an uncaring, disparaging & unkind attitude? You simply keep giving your all, your best, and serve in love & excellence!! Why you ask? Because you are not serving them in reality you are serving God, and they happen to just be the benefactor of your service to God. They are receiving the blessing of your service to God but they are not the object of your service.
Too often we look to each other for accolades, approval, acceptance or reward but the truth is no one can ever pay you for the service you render to God but God! Now this doesn't mean that when someone serves us that we shouldn't be kind and honor them for what they've done, but what it does mean is that their response to our serving is Not driving us. Further Philippians 2:14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, (NKJV)
You see your actions or service isn't predicated upon how they respond to you,but how you pre-determine to serve. You must realize that when you accepted the various roles that God has assigned in your life, you automatically accept the responsibility of now being a good & faithful steward over those things. So the next time your boss acts out of character, your children run buck-wild or if your spouse pushes your buttons; don't be moved by them but remember that God is desiring & expecting you to serve them, knowing your really serving Him through them.
